Biography:
As a thoracic surgeon, Dr. Bauer is interested in the use of advanced computer aided 3D imaging of the chest cavity and its organs, including the lungs, utilizing the "CAVE" at the Delaware Biotechnology Institute. He is also collaborating with biologists and genetics faculty at the University of Delaware to investigate DNA damage repair pathways and their role in augmenting cell death with chemotherapy. During his Thoracic Oncology summer clerkship at the Helen F Graham Cancer Center students from around the United States learn to workup, diagnosis, treat and care for patients with thoracic malignancies while completing a clinical research project.
