Education
Ph.D., Biochemistry, Harvard University: 1962
B.A., Biochemical Studies, Radcliffe College: 1959
Research Interests:
Dr. Colman and her research team are concentrating their efforts in several biochemical areas including the development of new reactive purine nucleotide analogues that are capable of functioning as affinity labels of nucleotide sites in proteins. They also are probing the active sites of a group of enzymes important in the detoxification of xenobiotics. This work aims to provide the knowledge base for the design of specific inhibitors of these enzymes for use in novel combination chemotherapy to enhance certain drugs in fighting cancer.
Before coming to the University of Delaware in 1973, Dr. Colman held the position of associate professor in the Department of Biological Chemistry at Harvard Medical School. She also completed a post doc in biochemistry at the National Institutes of Health; Bethesda, Md., and another at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Mo.
